Director, Office of Diversity & Inclusion

Jane Pizzolato (she/her/hers) is Director of Diversity & Inclusion, where she works with units across campus to support diversity efforts and advance inclusive excellence, leads the Men of Color Initiatives and Intergroup Dialogue Programs, oversees digital media for the Division, manages assessment efforts within the Division, and works collaboratively on assessment initiatives, practices, and procedures at the institutional level.

Jane received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University and has over 20 years of experience with DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) research, assessment, and administration work within higher education. After working in Student Athlete Support Services and Judicial Affairs, Jane spent 11 years as faculty at the University of Pittsburgh (Applied Developmental Psychology) and UCLA (Higher Education & Organizational Change). Her research focuses on the epistemological development of students of color, and how social policy and institutional programs and practices impact the success and development of college students from traditionally marginalized backgrounds. She first came to the University of Arizona in 2008 to consult on the development and assessment of a retention intervention study for APIDA identifying students, and to consult on the 2009-2014 University Strategic Plan. Jane returned full time to the University of Arizona working on the current Strategic Plan in 2018. Personally, Jane was born in Seoul, South Korea and grew up in Delaware. Jane enjoys running, eating, and traveling, and doing a lot of running and eating while traveling.
