Director, African American Student Affairs

Joshua Hamilton (he/him/his) is the Director of African American Student Affairs and has worked at the University of Arizona for 4 years. Joshua works to support the recruitment, retention, and persistence of African/African American/Black students on campus. Prior to his role as director, Joshua was a member of the Masculinities in the Mix team, where he worked to increase the retention of Men of Color at the University of Arizona. In 2019 Joshua was the recipient of the Horace Moody Award, for his contributions to student development in the field of campus recreation. Joshua is originally from Irving, Texas; holds a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas, a master’s degree in Higher Education and Post-Secondary Studies from Arizona State University and is currently a Doctoral Candidate in the Educational Leadership Program at Northern Arizona University. In his spare time Joshua enjoys reading, hiking, and kicking it with his partner Kourtney, and Harper, their beautiful 1 year old.
