The Native American Advisory Council (NAAC) provides workforce development, student recruitment and retention, and research that are key to advancing mutually beneficial initiatives between sovereign Native Nations and the University of Arizona. Advisory Council members also serve as ambassadors supporting and advancing the UA’s strategic priorities. The NAAC is one of six Community Diversity Advisory Councils developed to advise the University’s senior leadership on strategic issues and serve as ambassadors for the communities they represent. The NAAC was established in 2003 and convened under the leadership of Native American Student Affairs and the American Indian Studies Program

Historically the council has worked closely with faculty, staff and alumni groups to create scholarship for Asian American students. Recently, we’ve continued to promote cultural diverseness and understanding. Advocating for and supporting students and activities through the Asian Pacific American Student Affairs Center. We promote and foster the understanding of internal and external Asian cultures.

We address the common needs and concerns of students who have a definite spiritually/religion. Advocate for awareness for spiritually and/or religion as an integral part of students/people’s lives. Our purpose is to help religious student clubs and communities on campus to know each other. Establish guidelines that ensure no one oversteps their boundaries. Advocate for different religious groups at the University. How we can help them along their faith journey on campus.

Purpose is to provide advocacy and engagement for excellence, academic achievement and life success for black students. Substantive representation of black faculty and staff. Purpose of council is to engage with all black students, staff and faculty and encourage them to communicate amongst each other. Understanding where and what we can do to help with engagement.

We serve as advisors and discuss challenges that the University of Arizona was facing with student populations. Provided feedback and guidance, whether used or not. Our primary focus is recruitment, retention and graduation of Hispanic students. Advocate that funding is designated to support resources for our students. Our focus now is how we can maintain Hispanic Serving Institution status. We want to be advocacy ambassadors for the University of Arizona, but first and foremost we are advocates for students.

The Joint Advisory Council on Jewish Life and Antisemitism at the University of Arizona will support and advise the University President, leadership, and UAPD in identifying opportunities to improve the campus environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The Council’s mission includes promoting inclusivity, understanding, and respect for Jewish students, thereby advancing the University’s commitment to fostering an inclusive community where everyone feels welcome.
