The Disability Studies Initiative at the University of Arizona works to develop ways for students to further explore and engage with Disability Studies, Critical Disability Studies, Deaf Studies, Mad Studies, Crip Theory, and Disability Justice. This initiative is supported through the University of Arizona’s Disabled Staff and Faculty Coalition within our Office of Diversity and Inclusion, along with our campus partners in the Disability Cultural Center, Disability Resource Center, along with faculty, staff, and graduate students across the University.
This Spring, we will be hosting our second annual Disability Studies conference: Highlighting disability scholarship, art, and activism. The intention of this conference is to recognize and celebrate students, faculty, staff, and community scholars, writers, artists & activists doing work in Disability Studies in Tucson/Southern Arizona. The conference will be held on April 17th & 18th, 2025 in Highland Commons, and virtually, at the University of Arizona.
