Jamaica DelMar, EdD

Director, African American Student Affairs

Dr. DelMar comes to AASA with over a decade's worth of experience working with college students in areas such as advising, records, admissions, and veteran services. In addition, she has taught undergraduate and graduate level classes for the past two years out of the Education Policy Studies and Practice department at UA’s College of Education. Her research interests include examining college access through an intersectional lens, particularly for populations such as students of color, first-generation college students, those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, students with mental health issues, or students caring for children. She has worked with non-profit organizations such as the Jeremiah Program and the YWCA of Southern Arizona to develop and provide a curriculum that empowers single mothers pursuing post-secondary credentials. She is honored to support Black students in this role and enjoys providing structure and advocacy for AASA.

Jamaica received her EdD from Minnesota State University – Moorhead in the spring of 2021 and arrived at the University of Arizona in the fall of 2021, serving as Director of Project SOAR housed in the Center for the Study of Higher Education at COE.
