Naty Rico

Coordinator, Disability Cultural Center

Naty Rico (she/her/hers, ella) is the Coordinator of the Disability Cultural Center here at the University of Arizona. She is tasked with creating programs that address disability identity and culture and shift perspectives that view disability as tragic or deficient. She was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles and is a first-generation college graduate from the University of California, Irvine. She has 8 years of experience advocating for disability rights prompted from her own experiences dealing with ableism and inaccessibility. Naty has traveled to 12 countries via Semester at Sea in the Fall 2016 voyage and has given a TedxTalk on intersectional disability inclusion in higher education. In her free time, you can find her seeking the best taco spot in town or catching up on her favorite shows.
